Purpose of this company

1. Revitalization of the art market

When I was young, I grew up touching ceramics and antique art. During my youth, I had a strong interest in fashion and culture, and was strongly influenced by American pop art such as Warhol and Lichtenstein.

At that time, I thought that only overseas art was art, and I was not so interested in the Japanese art industry. At that time, I forgot the reason, but I came across the work of Yoshitomo Nara. I really wanted a work, so I saved money and bought the work.

From there, I became interested in Japanese art and began to go to galleries and art school exhibitions in search of new encounters. When I first went to the gallery, I was asked "Are you a college student?", And some galleries had an arrogant attitude, so it was a rather closed image.

And now, the Japanese art market is more exciting than ever.

Certainly, there have been some writers who are still extremely popular, such as Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, and Yayoi Kusama, but that is only a part of it, and it was a very difficult world for new writers and mid-career writers. .. Some of the artists were highly evaluated overseas and were active overseas, but even so, the works did not sell in Japan, and the common understanding was that "Japanese people appreciate art but do not buy it." bottom.

That is changing a lot now. The spread of SNS has made it easier for artists to publish their work. Young Japanese collectors gathered information from it and began to buy works by new writers who seemed to be popular and writers from popular galleries. Because I like it, I want to immerse myself in a sense of superiority, and there are various reasons such as speculative purposes. Of course, more and more collectors love art and are attracted to the artist, the work, and the concept.

Returning to the main subject, I would like to increase the number of collectors of the latter.

So I thought about what I could do.

(1) Open an art gallery by renting a room in the building in the town where you live.

(2) Hold an art event at the event venue.

Isn't it difficult to attract customers if the other party isn't interested in both of them, even if it's still in the city center?

Then, better yet, I thought I'd go from here.

The Abiko Contemporary Art Gallery was born in this way. A gallery space at the entrance of the condominium or in the lobby. I think that the paintings displayed at the entrance, which is responsible for the "I'm home" and "Welcome back" of the residents, will give you a chance to feel the art closer to you.

There are many issues, but I believe that this initiative will surely lead to the activation of the art market and the increase of collectors.

2. Expanding the playing field of writers

Until now, even if there were artists who thought "good" at art school graduation exhibitions and gallery group exhibitions, there were many cases where it became clear.

This is something that the artist himself decides, so it can't be helped, but I want to reduce the number of people who quit because they don't have the opportunity to exhibit.

With that in mind, I decided to increase the number of galleries such as Abiko Contemporary Art Gallery to provide an exhibition space. Of course, in addition to the exhibition, we will collaborate with companies and writers so that we can think and realize various projects.

3. Opening an art gallery

In the exhibitions in the gallery space as described above, there are many restrictions due to the artist's character, such as the exhibition of three-dimensional works such as sculptures, the exhibition of large works, the exhibition of installations and works that may be questioned by public order and morals. Therefore, we believe that opening an art gallery is essential.
